HOW TO BUILD MOMENTUM AND OTHER COOL CONCEPTS – TONY ROBBINS

This article will tune your mind for results.

In this article we are going to break down this particular video by Tony Robbins

Tony Robbins is a peak performance coach for thousands of businesses, basketball players and celebrities.

His teachings are clearly what differentiates a winning player and a losing player. He goes deep while most other coaches go surface level.

But what happens in the surface rarely matters! You might get a temporary enthusiasm to work one day but it’s impossible to achieve results unless you stay on the hustle consistently, with absolute certainty that you are going to make it happen.

You are going to learn some important concepts that will hopefully create a paradigm shift in your mindset 🙂

IN-DEPTH KNOWLEDGE

This article is written in a question and answer format.

1  HOW DO YOU FEEL GOOD ?

People feel good when they achieve some progress.

You do not have to achieve a goal to feel good, you just have to feel that you made some progress.

This is why people buy self-help products because buying it makes them feel like they have achieved some progress. But then the reality is that unless you go through the product and start taking action you will not make further progress.

You have to follow through and achieve consistent progress to be successful.

2  HOW DO YOU ACHIEVE SUCCESS WHEN YOU HAVEN’T YET HIT ROCK BOTTOM ?

A lot of people develop the mental shift that makes them successful when they hit rock bottom, when they burn the boats or when they have a gun to their head. But this is not always the situation.

If you are already doing well today you are not in a must-situation, but you are in a desire-situation. Here is what you should do –

1) Create a ritual – For the next 8 weeks, decide that you are going to do one thing a day to condition your mind.

You are going to read something every day.

You are going to listen to something.

You are going to immerse yourself.

You are going to go for an intense jog.

And you have to 100% follow-through. You cannot skip a day.

The idea is to get in state. Once you do something consciously you will get in state, and when you get in state you are going to follow through.

2) You should clearly know WHY you are doing this –

“WHY” is the most important question to ask yourself. It should be something that you are HUNGRY for.

Since you did not hit rock bottom you need to be driven by something. Maybe you want to master some area in your life that will create some freedom.

If you are not hungry, hang around people who are hungry and then something will hit you. When you watch a conversation or when you get around people who are doing better all of a sudden you are going to say that your life sucks. And that will totally raise your standards.

This happened to Tony went he went to a billionaires house in LA, it totally raised his standards. He knew that he is capable of achieving more.

3  HOW DO YOU BUILD MOMENTUM?

Progress builds momentum.

You won’t master anything overnight. You need a system.

Make a plan – do one thing a day and focus on one thing a week.

“This week I am going to focus on what a nice product in my industry is. “

“Next week I am going to understand the basics of building traffic.”

Each week you will make some progress that will bring you closer and closer to your goal. You have to do little things each day. This will soon lead to you making your first $1000, first $2500 and so on. Every time you make that progress you are going to get super excited.

Tony Robbins went from being broke to making $3000 a month, $10,000 a month, $10,000 a day, $100,000 a day, a million dollar a day, and one day he made 400 million dollars when his personal stock in a company went public.

Once you breakthrough everything just becomes a game.

4  WHY DOES THE RICH GET RICHER AND POOR GET POORER ?

The reason why the rich get richer and the poor get poorer is because of the mindset. You have to understand the picture given below –

11_c

Everyone has unlimited potential. But what matters is whether you believe that you have potential.

To give an example, before Roger Bannister ran the first 4 minute mile in 1954 people were unable to reach that limit for centuries. But after Roger achieved that feat 37 people did it in the next 2 years. And now, high school students are doing it. And Roger did that not just by practicing physically but by practicing in his head, because he knew that unless his mind believed it first his body will not get him through.

How much you believe is your potential will determine the actions that you take.

The action that you take determines the results that you get.

And the results will reinforce your belief.

And the belief will accept your potential. This cycle will continue.

EXAMPLE 1) DOWNWARD SPIRAL

Let us say that you believe that you have little potential.

You have unlimited potential as we all agree but you are not aware of that.

If you believe that you have very little potential how much action are you going to take? Little action.

And with little action you will get lousy results.

And with lousy results you will reinforce your belief that you don’t have potential.

This cycle will continue and each time you take action and get lousier results your belief is going to get even more weaker. This sucker will feed on itself until you are in a downward spiral.

This is poisonous and self-fulfilling.

EXAMPLE 2) UPWARD SPIRAL, ALSO KNOWN AS “MOMENTUM”

What if something happens that will fill you with ABSOLUTE CERTAINTY that it’s going to work? You don’t just believe, but you KNOW that it will work. You believe that if it does not work you will make the way. Now you have tapped into a much higher potential.

When your potential is certain you take massive action.

Massive action with certainty will give great results.

This will lead to your belief system getting more reinforced that you are a total stud.

Now you will feel like you have more potential and then you will take greater action.

This is how you build momentum.

Soon you will make your first $1, your first $100, your first $1000 and so on until you reach millions.

5  HOW DO YOU ENSURE THAT YOU ARE GOING TO BE SUCCESSFUL?

One word – “Certainty”.

When you are absolutely certain that if you do this you will get results and this result will change your life – you will do it.

And if you absolutely believe that it will NEVER work you will never do it.

The middle place where you think maybe it will work, maybe it wont – that’s the place that kills people. If it is a must for you, you have to make it work.

For example, If a salesman knocks on a 100 doors and says “You don’t want one of these do you?” will he be able to sell any? No. Even if he does not say it verbally his face tells it because he does not believe it’s going to work. His body, his voice and his execution will be so weak that he won’t get any result.

If you start a product or business just to try it, you are going to fail. The core difference in people is how do you create certainty if the world is not giving it to you.

You don’t change your potential because that was always there. It is not even taking more action, taking more action without belief is not going to work and won’t change anything. You need to have results in your head that is so certain that it’s almost like it already happened. This is what makes somebody a star at anything.

6  DO YOU HAVE ANY OTHER EXAMPLES TO PROVE WHAT YOU EXPLAINED PREVIOUSLY?

Example 1) In the video, one of the persons who Tony is talking to is John Reese. When John had no money he already knew that he is going to drive a Ferrari, Porsche .etc because he always wanted those cars.

He already knew that he is going to have them, it was inevitable. He has obsession towards it. This lead to John being a famous internet marketer and he achieved a feat of making $1 million on a single day by selling his product without spending a single cent on advertising.

Example 2) Tony worked with basketball players and many had a problem with choking on the free-throw line.

shaq_free_throw_c

They can shoot when they are not under pressure so it was something messing with their state, some kind of uncertainty, a mental block.

So Tony made them into three groups. The first group practiced intensely for 3 weeks. The second group did not practice at all. And the third group was not allowed to touch a basketball, but these guys visualized themselves making these shots every single time.

In the end of 6 weeks the 3rd group had maximum free-throw percentage. Practicing is not enough. You have to get yourself so certain so many times so that when you go and do it you have no hesitancy and you execute.

WHAT NEXT ?
