IN-DEPTH KNOWLEDGE

This article might look very simple but it is extremely powerful.
One simple mistake like this can be the reason why you are draining all your energy without making enough sales.

This article will be in a question and answer format.

1  WHAT IS THE WRONG WAY TO SELL A PEN?

Do not start giving a sales pitch right away.

The big mistake that people make is that they try to impress a potential customer by saying all the qualities of the pen to him. Things such as –

“This is the best pen in the world!”

“It writes upside down!”

“It defies gravity!”

“Its cheap!”

If you do that you sound like a moron and you are trying to jam a pen down someone’s throat.

Don’t do that!

2  WHAT IS THE RIGHT WAY TO SELL A PEN?

When you want to sell something you need to first ask questions. You have to qualify your potential client.

You need to find what someone’s needs are, what they like .etc. You can use questions such as –

“How long were you in the market for a pen?”

“What kind of pens do you typically use?“

“How often do you use a pen?”

“Will you be in the market looking for a pen in the next few weeks or so?”

If you get a reply that your potential client is NOT looking for a pen now or in the near future just leave and look for someone who wants a pen.

Don’t sell someone a pen if he does not need a pen.

WHAT NEXT ?

It is important to understand that you have to sell to people who needs your product or service.

I do not try to convert others, I sell to people who are already converted – Gary Vaynerchuk

Keep that in mind when you start building lists in the future for cold calling, email, social media or even when you ask a girl out for a date 🙂
